The Fate Of Christ Poem by Frank Adie

The Fate Of Christ

HE left the luxury of heaven's mansions
To become a homeless baby in a manger.

HE hungered for bread, and suffered deprivation
From a barren fig tree.

HE asked for a drink, and was denied water
Because HE was a Jew.

He broke the bread of friendship
And was rewarded with a kiss of betrayal.

The Verdict of Pilate declared him innocent,
Yet He was condemned to death by public opinion.

He was beaten and taunted unjustly,
Yet He asked for mercy for His assailants.

He was an unfair victim of man's wickedness,
But the Heaven's crowned Him with glory.
