The Fears Of Every Artist (2009) Poem by Lillian B. Rose

The Fears Of Every Artist (2009)

As a creation becomes
To lyricks a note is added
the first clink of the cymbal
The first dropp of ink on a page
The colors mixed on the pallet
every line of a program
every dash of graphics

It's not the beginnings
We show nervousness about
but the acceptance
of our creation - revealed
Our souls laid out
in front of the world
for comment

Every creation
Is built upon kernels
Plausible pieces
thought and images
that pass as we dream
Desire left unspoken
as we examine our own hearts

Are we the crazy ones
for the stream-of-conscience pages
Ambitions not fully realized
Dreams still developing
Continually examining possibilities
Doubting only when
the newly descovered piece
Doesn't fit the puzzle
we set upon finishing

Yet if we listen to the world
that has captured our voices
We doubt our dreams
and lose our hopes
to critical messages
fearing to step
out of our boxes

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

This rings very true as I also paint... my lover always says that it takes a fearless person to make a first sweep of a brush over a naked canvass.... very good thought put into this poem...it certainly provokes more...
