The Feisty Lover Poem by Callista CharlemagneDaniel

The Feisty Lover

like an all spice seasoning blend coupled with jalapeño peppers
it lights My senses, marinating like a slow roast of bacon wrapped baby back ribs
dribbling with anticipation for Friday fiesters of traditional crafts and modern twists
we revel the streets to this captivating array of good food and cultural hits
where the birth place of bacanal is forever immortalised
and soca music remains this fiesty lover
who passes through the birth canal
to embed it self in every muscle
causing instant movements as the music seranades the air
birth by love, nurtured with pride and christined with rum
de carnival season, defined by this firery fernece
of iconic voices dropping lyrics true to their heritage
recarnatingthe kings and Queen's
ensuring legacy is forever remembered
my soca music swims in originality
forever capitaving its date
from the bust of colours to spirit filled performers
comes this one moment, with no commitments
everyone called with no obligations
dancing to one lover
soca music, the feisty lover.
