The Fellow I'D Rather Not Meet Poem by Francis Duggan

The Fellow I'D Rather Not Meet

I see him one might say too often the fellow I'd rather not meet
We nod to each other in passing whenever we meet on the street
His thinking to mine is so different that each other we'd rather not know
The like minded we tend to gravitate to I do believe this to be so
A neo con in his way of thinking he believes everyone has a life choice
His kind are not a minority one might say his is not a lone voice
He believes that the Stateless and Homeless and Hungry have chosen to live in this way
And so sad to think many think like him in the Human World of today
He holds down a good job financially well off but in his thinking he is small
'Tis thanks to him and to those who think like him that's there's no such a thing as a fair go for all
In his own ways he is a good person though nothing in common we do share
In compassion and empathy lacking and his type have never been rare
I meet him for my liking too often in passing we nod a good day
In our few brief conversations I did not like what he had to say.
