The Fight Between Sorrow And Light Poem by Tatenda Divine Makasi

The Fight Between Sorrow And Light

My sorrow is a long dark night
If l had a choice l would help it, but l am allergic to light
My inner strength goes beyond muscle might
All because l got a fair training from the emotions l try to fight
Stop telling me that my future is bright
How can it be, when l am allergic to light

My sorrow is a dark ocean
They told me to swim out of it again and again
But as l reach the surface l start to see the light
Why, why should light be the only way to make it right

My sorrow is a dark shadow
But should I kill my own reflection with my allergy?
Light pisses me off, it gives me nausea and I'd rather switch it off
Light either helps me see how empty l am deep inside
Or it blinds me from reality, it lets me set it aside
Light is so delusional that it made me think l am separable from my pain and sorrow, how irrational!

I said my sorrow is my shadow right!
My sorrow is my companion during the night
It follows me in the woods and in the ocean
But until now l am still broken
Simply because I don't know
The end of the fight between my allergy and my sorrow
