Love: A Blinding Veil Poem by Tatenda Divine Makasi

Love: A Blinding Veil

How sweet the power of a blind illusion,
Turned lovely nights into a crimson gold;
Young minds will crumble in a sad confusion,
Yet love remains a story still untold.

A young bride had a brief, a fleeting dream,
Of how two lovers blend and then unite;
From massive joy, she wished so much to scream,
Her world was lovely and her home filled bright.

Her pretty soul never turned to dull or witty,
The power of love revived it every day;
Her husband told her that she looked so pretty,
And brought her flowers just to clear the way.

But lo, it was a lie, for nothing changed;
A cruel monster she had blindly engaged.
