The Fire Poem by Sankhajit Bhattacharjee

The Fire

Two kindled the lamp on the very day-
the flame was seen since then,
the fire later...

The fire has taught me-
to climb high
ignoring cold, avalanche and hypoxia;
to sail into the deep
ignoring icebergs, storms and whirling currents;
to explore dense forests, dry deserts and silent valleys...

The fire tells me,
‘Jump into me.
You won't be burnt.
You will only feel the warmth of victory.'
