The Fireworks Poem by Michael J ORourke2

The Fireworks

How dark and cloudy loom the skies
No transparency to our sight
Forgotten the sunlit beams of dawn
While the barge awaits the still of night

Suddenly, flashes of fire fill the air
While the Long Island Sound bobs away
The symmetry of spheres hurtles to the sky
Sapphire rings of blue brighten our day

The sounds of thunder and drizzling rain
Release great spider webs of orange and green
Kaleidoscopes flourish of yellow and gold
While waterfall fescues burst on the scene

Emerald sparkles fall just beyond our touch
As each golden ember remorsefully dies circles of starfish descend like leaves
Fiberoptic rays... brightening the skies

The Fireworks have finished... a wondrous view
The colors suffusing us with joy and glee
The web-stained heavens laugh aloud
So keen to Freedom and Harmony.
