The First Day Poem by justin gibbs

The First Day

Nine months we waited, excited and scared
I dont know how she handled the pain that was there
Hand in hand we watched as the baby was lifted
I knew right away that my boy would be gifted

The first to hold him, a feeling took over
I held him so long until I couldnt feel my shoulder
Family all around but I heard no noise
Do all dads get this feeling with there little boys

Now he is one and o so much fun
I taught him to throw a ball and even to run
His mothers heart and his fathers love
He was truly a gift sent from above
