How fast 100 years go by
When you look back through the ages
Why, it’s almost a blink of the eye
As I leaf through the history pages
And yet, at the same time, you know
Difficult advances were made
An exciting first hundred years
Now old pictures have started to fade
And I truly do enjoy looking at them
And wonder how life really was
I know those past days were grueling
As folks fought for the human cause
Going back into the old west
Riding horseback over dirt roads
Until the advance of the railway
Helping economy with heavy loads
I appreciate the folks back then
Their hard work and frustrating tears
But proud to realize the strides they made
In that first difficult hundred years!
