The First Of December Poem by Francis Duggan

The First Of December

To Australia in the Southern Pacific Summer has made her way
The first of December a beautiful day
Song birds sing and whistle on the sunlit trees
And the sweet scent of hay wafts in the warm breeze
The air full of the buzzings of flies and of bees
On a temperature high of twenty seven degrees
The swallows above the sunlit paddock chirp as they fly
And for food the young magpies to their parents cry
The creek flowing at a trickle and the water dam low
But despite climate change the Seasons come and go
The paddocks around are looking lush and green
And beautiful flowers everywhere to be seen
The first of December and birds chirp and sing
It's welcome to Summer and good bye to Spring.
