The Fishbowl Poem by Edwina Reizer

The Fishbowl

Fish in a fishbowl swimmin' all around,
fish in a fishbowl makin' not one sound.
Peaceful to look at, not thinkin' about a thing.
Just watchin' you circle in a watery ring
Do you see me staring with my big old eyes?
Wonderin' if I'm a monster in disguise?

I just keep on lookin' at you.
I'm intrigued by all that you do.
Now if I were you swimmin' all day long
I'd think to be stared at outrageously wrong.

So, I'll stop and leave you to swim peacefully
but the lure of your peacefulness
will probably be
more than I can stand so I'll be back again
starin' into that fishbowl
every time that I can.
