The Flesh Vs The Spirit Poem by SylvaOnyema (SUPER.T) Ubah

The Flesh Vs The Spirit

Rating: 5.0

The Flesh:
You are happy and you are sad
In this sea of wealth
Money is a running river to you
You swim in the oceans

Daughters of Delilah
Like a flock of bed
Hover round your soul

Your tinted glass houses
A radiating splendor of
Aesthetic beauty

The endless fleet of cars
With siren
Echo
Like a noisy drum to the ears

Orderlies are your helmet
Power frozen
Melting
You have read
Letters
Encyclopedia
But...

The Spirit:
But the spirit calls
Break the silence
Of your lost
Speaking of Angelic taste
And Heavenly pleasures

You hear the Divine call
Break the silence of your lust
Like a whirl wind
Throwing dust around

O! born of mortal
Consumed by dust
Your soul is a property of God
Come and ride
In the celestial horse

With a silent delight
Like faded memories
Of fallen raindrops
You bid the flesh farewell but...

But the flesh calls again
Pounding like pounded yam on your heart

And you opened to listen
Alas! the spirit resurrects
And the spirit calls again
Breaking the silence
Of your thought.

...but thee flesh calls again Here we seee the things of the flesh constantly drawing attention so as to distract the spirit.
