The Folly Of The Tomb Poem by Phillip Nine Mafunga

The Folly Of The Tomb

Once upon a time
The tombs you so much revere son
The graveyard you terrified of
Beautiful people they used to be
Mighty men of war they once were
Mansions some lived in
Some beggars and sickly lives they lived
Today they are mere skeletons under a load of dirt
The tombs are a mark of history
The tail end of story once told
Honour not the tomb
But give much thought to the history contained therein
Learn from their stories
Walk on the crest of their victories
Avoiding the valleys of their defeats
Worship not the departed, its foolishness to do so
For your business is only with the living.
