The Forest Poem by Dorsey Baker

The Forest

Deep into deeper
The midnight creeper
Comes sneaking
Into the dark
Of the sleepless night

Where the forest begin
Where the animals shelter
As the rain comes from the sky
The yellow moon is watching

Footprints hidden
By the many feet
Passing by

A bird perched in a tree
Flaps it's wings
Acknowledging its joy

A few clouds are moving
Across the mournful sky thunder begins to shout
A flash of lightning
Follows close behind

A crowd of lovers
Gather next to a comfortable spot
Just when the storm is about to start!
