The Former President Poem by Francis Duggan

The Former President

Rating: 5.0

He lived as a great man many would agree
Though some in him flaws they did claim to see
Millions on t v watched his funeral today
And at peace forever the former President lay
The farewell bell for him has finally rung
And by his supporters his praises are sung
But most of those who opposed him by his army were gunned down
And buried in mass graves in every village and city and town
But to speak ill of him none in public dare to speak out
That fear is a weapon of silence there can be no doubt
Since the President today is his eldest son
Handpicked by his father as the chosen one
And he like his father does order to kill
Anyone who does threaten him or on him wishes ill.
