There is a mutual attraction between
the spark of the soul,
the free divine germ in man
and the fount from which it came forth.
The homeward journey of man's spirit
Is due to the push of a divine life within
and the pull of the eternal divine.
The spiritual pilgrim goes
because he is called,
he wants to go, must go
if he is to find rest and peace.

hey, tony! i'm reading your recent postings and came on this one. i definitely relate to the last stanza. in my own case a seed (or germ) had been planted that God could be known personally, and i did everything i could to meet God. you know, of course, that our striving or effort counts for nothing, but how wonderful to discover this and experience the grace of God opening our understanding(!) i've been reading in the gospel of john lately, and your poem reminds me of statements of jesus about the reality of God calling, of jesus calling, and us recognizing his voice and responding. hoping this finds you well in all ways, glen
