# The Ganges Poem by Shamik Kumar Bose

# The Ganges

I see some young girls inside a meadow
Laughing and chirping all around the shadow

The youthful skirts floating in joy resplendent
Lovely faces beaming like a moon in ascent

Wave around their flowery faces dearly invites
Like the tides when the full moon in love showers

Love that is so alluring for thousands of years
The same lovedrops play now in infinite mirths

Love that binds souls infinite into One
Mother Ganges flows in all hearts' divine

She sings, she dances inside Gangotri's mouth
White snows surrender under her glowing warmth

This Land is mystic! Over whose bosom she flows
Sound of prayers inside the flowing water blows

The Temples at the Ghats from time ancient
The glory around the river is so magnificent!

India the Kohinoor dazzle’s in moon's crest
The River a sacred thread around his ember breast

Alkananda, Mandakini, Bhagirathi and Padma
Names are many, yet she is one Mother Ganga.
