It is not over yet
There is always the lingering fear
That letting one's guard down prematurely
Will mean being one of the last victims
As long as there are new cases each day
It is necessary to beware
And yet there is a feeling
Of the world come alive again
The parks the beaches the markets
The slight letting down with the masks and the social distance
The mothers holding the hands of the small children
On the way to school
Going back to work for some
Not over yet
Perhaps never over for some
But a sense
Of the happiness of normal life for many
Thinking of what is going on outside
And forgetting for a moment
The private pains of my own situation.
