The Girl From Fort Collins Poem by Justin Baird

The Girl From Fort Collins

And what judgement is it that cupid deems
Beautiful one beyond the skies, mountains, and streams
What trickery you put forth on me
To make my heart cry and yearn for thee
I stamp, I tear, yell, and I curse
This plague you give, the cure I thirst
My sense stalled, my conscious blighted
But my passion and my drive you have ignited
For my sins of lust, I will not weep
Some solace in your beauty I will seek
You are my Honeybunny, forever wanting I will be
Like some foolish knight of chivalry
And so these words I resign to thee
Love's final victory over my emotional sovereignty
My dearest Megan, how you rule my loving thoughts
You came, saw, and conquered my tender heart.
