Sailors Of The North Poem by Justin Baird

Sailors Of The North

Rating: 5.0

Upon the Dneiper and the Volga
Across the Icy Sea
The Northman howl and cry out
And sing a melody

Long ways away from the homeland
Upon the sturdy boats
These sailors of the northern lands
Traverse the river routes

Without compass or map to guide them
They row like men at war
These Scandinavian pagans
Storm fast upon the shore

Born and bred for battle
They let loose a berserkers roar
Soldiers of Valhalla
Sons of Odin and Thor

Varangians, Vikings, Northmen
The names the matter not
For they all lie in their tombs now, sleeping in the rot
Europe's greatest bandits upon the land or sea
These warriors of Asgard
A romantic legacy.

This's outstanding, Justin. The poem vibrates with the valor of the Vikings! 10 for such great work.
