The Grand Illusion Poem by Jake Andrews

The Grand Illusion

I have this Vision that every things the same
We all live and are merely players in a game
To the grander scheme of things we are the last
To think of all the people who have lived and died in the past
A nation will rise and a nation will fall
Its been done before, and no one sees it at all
The names may be different, whether Ceasar or King
But it doesn’t matter it’s always the same old thing
We live in a system, this is how we survive
We take from others so that we may stay alive
We now live in an awkward way
Get up and do the same thing everyday
Many believe in the freedom of action
As if you had a choice to your reaction
But then there is the grand illusion that while you lived you had a choice
To be remembered, time will echo your voice
Things only matter because you want them to
Humble yourself and blessings to you
Because the time will come for self love to fail
No more protection from your spiritual jail
A time when all light will stop
In the end everyone just wanted to get to the top
