The Grave Poem by Lawerence Mize, Sr.

The Grave

Rating: 5.0

Don't know why
I talk to the ground
Feel kind of dumb
Know your not around
More than a name
On a marker to me
Here in my heart
You will always be
Its comforting to know
That your finally at rest
I'll stay for awhile
Give it my best
Hard to believe
How fast time's passed
Thought you'd be with me
To the very last
Saw an old picture
Of you and the kids
The smiles on your faces
The things you all did
It's getting late
I gotta go
The gate man's here
He wants to close
I'll come around
Fill you in on the news
Hate this soft ground
Get mud on my shoes

Melancholy, and deep with the pathos of life. Very good one, this.
