The Graveyard Poem by Paula Robinson

The Graveyard

Amongst the yellow rose she chose to linger
Reminded of the love she hoped to find
Pricked by the thorny yellow rose upon her finger
Reminded of the love she left behind

Scarlet drops of blood fell from her hand
Reminded of the tears she once had shed
Pricked by the life she had once planned
Reminded of how her heart had bled

Lifting her tear stained face toward the sky
Reminded of the better times ahead
Pricked by the loneliness of her sigh
Reminded of this place where love lay dead
