The Grey Silhouette Poem by Rajiv Khandelwal

The Grey Silhouette

Yesterday
The doctor did an overall investigation
Said: I need to now exercise
Eat sensible, healthy diet
But to review portion size
As muscles, tendons, and joints are losing strength
And now must pay attention

Digestive reflexes are slowing pretty quickly
Diabetes and blood Pressure
Are causing damage to kidney

Vision is blurring
That's why
You cannot see the wrinkles
Slowly appearing
Sometimes you may get goose pimples

Grey is fighting for survival
Silver seems to be timing its arrival

Decline in blood flow to the brain
Is impairing my memory chain
This is something I already knew
For yesterday, I had no clue
Where I had kept my car and office keys
And thought I was acquiring Alzheimer's disease

Sometimes I even start searching frantically
For my spectacles at bedtime
And realize, I had them on, all the time

But let me tell you and it may not be news
In spite of things going south
I still do not lose those memorable moments
Spent with you
Which remain with me like my muse
