The Guide Poem by Vonda Overlie

The Guide

What am I without him?
Incomplete.
Side by side, year after year walking this journey together.

Today I carry you. Uplifting you to my Father in prayer.
Fully relying on him to see us through.

We have tread these dangerous waters before.
Steps of grief and darkness.

Soldiers fit for battle, yet tired and worn.
My shield of faith blocks those fiery arrows.

Give me oil in my lamp..
To see in the night.

We will follow you home!
