The Halloween Wife Poem by Ramona Thompson

The Halloween Wife

Haunting for all eternity I am doomed to do unless I find my one true love forever more
A lover never to lie, cheat or steal is the only one who can save my wicked soul tonight
Little by little and bit by bit every year I return in search of him
Leaving a piece behind on the grave for him to follow and find me
Once I almost thought that I had indeed uncovered my lover dear, only to have to kill him when I found him
In loving arms of another
Wandering still every Halloween I seek him
Eager and willing to return my love
Even thou I am dead and he is alive
No reason why we should let such a simple little thing get in the way of our affair

When he beckons I know that I shall hear and at once be there always to adore him
I will wed to him and he to me
Filled to the brim and overflowing with the joy of our final missing pieces at last fit together
Evermore to share a tomb with a view
