The Holy Family Go Into Egypt Poem by james watkin

The Holy Family Go Into Egypt

Each goddess figure, sky-mythologized
Down-set, from stone outgrew
Placed where, for a bright admiring
Worshipful, sands hottest blew
For loveliness, defaced for the shame!
For virtue most infirmly stood!
When Mary the heavenly model
As passing by was understood.
