The Home Poem by soren Barrett

The Home

Little by little paint fell away from the kitchen wall
Here a warm fire in the stove heated all
Humidity and distance from the heat left it to flake
Neglect and air's torpidity the shine did break

Cold and dingy when not in use
Kitchen from other rooms now a recluse
Door closed to hide slime and grime
A room visited only at dinner time
