The House Of Humanity Poem by Kenneth Maswabi

The House Of Humanity

At times it's a house of cards
Most of the time it's a house full of goodness
It's the only home we know
And most of all it's our house
During this tumultuous period
The house of humanity is standing on solid ground
Even though we are submerged in sorrow
We have found time to be our best
We have seen our nurses and doctors (all health personnel)in full armour of goodness
We have seen our politicians shedding their skins
We have seen crocodile tears and we have seen true hardships
We have seen humanity wallowing in the pool of mud
We have seen the deleterious effects of inequality
And we have seen governments feeding its people
We have all prayed for the house of humanity to stick together
We have seen both the ugly side and the best side of humanity
We have seen total chaos and we have seen the polished tunnel of hope
We have seen true heroes and we have seen stupidity displayed
We have seen the heart of goodness in full force
And we have seen the selfishness, the deceit and greed
We have seen total havoc and we have seen the power of true consciousness
We have been immersed in tears and we have basked in hope
Most of all we have allowed our house to sway with the winds but not to fall
For the first time we have prayed in Silence
And let our prayers be our fortress
We have achieved what we could not achieve in times of happiness
We have found our true selves
