The Hypocrites In The Garb Of Activists Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

The Hypocrites In The Garb Of Activists

A man violating the rights of weakerfolk
ascends to be the activist for human rights!
Mobile brothel-keepers and suppliers to bosses,
form the forum for rights with feasts to beasts,
to keep away from the sensing cops.
Democracy stinks! Pooh!
He transgresses the limits of decency
when the Schoolheads deny him access
to hook the pike among the lady preachers.
When his party is in rule,
no one can rule over him.
He can make smear campaigns against the teachers
but the rules bound dumb have to bear the slime.
`Transfers’ to HRA- starved places silence them
and the officers too don’t like legal wrangles.

Sleazy reporters are pawns in his hand.
They drink and eat what he gives
and concoct tales as he dictates
to maul the honest with deep wounds.
The Cable newsmen and the freelance photographers
make a raging storm out of nothing.
Newspapers want vulgar stuff
and the mass excited recall the rules of UNO
as if something grave happened.

The learned and the womenfolk
slink away on seeing him.
Tax evading businessmen
and those floating fake notes,
Vandals presiding over the Clubs
and even the elected men hang around him.
My God! These cultural vampires
poach the houses from the poor,
lending money for interest higher,
and prove more dangerous than the terrorists.
The sacrifice of the soldiers will go a waste
if these rogues aren’t put behind the bars.
