The Inconsistency Of Your Own Mind Poem by Margaret Alice

The Inconsistency Of Your Own Mind

Oh give me words to explain
my father to you, to the world,
to everybody; it breaks my
heart when he is attacked
on the ground of false rumours
that were spread about him;
I’m crying in my helplessness
to defend him; you just don’t
listen to what I say, I refuse
to talk to you as long as you
insist on degrading him to
a state lower than Heathcliff,
as long as you persist in
clinging to the false illusions
created by his Catherine;
you decried her as irrational –
yet insist on perpetuating her
lies, cannot you see the
inconsistency of your own
mind?

Wow, I feel that you told ME off then! Compelling and paced, not letting go until it's done. Great. S x
