The rain falls down, a steady beat,
I wish the sun would warm my street.
The news is loud, a worried hum,
My heart feels heavy, overcome.
A friend feels sad, I cannot mend,
Their silent pain, no words can send.
The world spins on, it will not wait,
Some things just are, a twist of fate.
But I can choose a gentle smile,
And walk a brighter, hopeful mile.
I can prepare a warming tea,
And let my own calm spirit be.
I can be kind, in small, true ways,
And brighten up a passing day.
My thoughts I hold, my actions too,
That power's mine, to see me through.
