There once was an itty-bitty Christmas tree
That grew up in a nearby forestry.
So shapely, handsomely, this tree did grow,
Of course, what became of it, you all should know.
One day some folks from a far-away place
Chose just this tree to be removed from its base
Where, now, it is displayed for every one to see,
Nightly, splendidly lit up, in Washington, DC.
