The Junkie Next Door Poem by Angela Michel

The Junkie Next Door

Rating: 5.0

Heroin - just sniff it up.
It's the new 'in' thing to do.
Don't have to feel anything.
It will feel for you.

It's easy to find,
a quick trip to the badlands
will score the fix.
Then the junkie next door
is back to the suburbs
to get her kicks.

It's the best lover ever,
the faithful friend,
but it turns against you
in the end.

Why does she do it?
To turn off the feelings.
Replace the pain with the haze.
Looking for something,
life doesn't matter
a long string of meaningless days.

Why can't she stop using?
She knows that it hurts her.
Still the drug keeps calling her back,
she wants to fight it..
guilt and shame plague her,
she struggles to find the right track.

'Prevention is the key' says Society
'Help your children see,
success is living in Reality.'

Till then...
another shivering skeleton
wanders the city maze.
Her vacant eyes no longer see
the former life
that's lost to her now.
She's dying to be free.

Heroin kills without mercy. It has no boundaries you could plunge to death with ecstasy. The keywords is to stay away from the drug.Good job Angela.
