The Key Poem by Christine Natale

The Key

Rating: 5.0

I closed the door on love tonight
A little room, without a light,
A secret place with lock and key
Lies deep within the heart of me.

Your face, your hands, your eyes, your arms
Are tucked away, so still and warm
Within this chamber of my heart
Though from my sight you now depart.

Too early and too eager I,
To nestle in your arms and lie
In deep desire and repose
My heart unfolding like a rose,

That now from me you turn away;
Disdain to meet me in the day.
And yet, this pain a blessing is
Extending not our moment’s bliss.

For if I had your love for long
I’d surely die when you had gone.
So safely now I turn the key
Upon this ancient mystery

And lay it softly in your hand
Till death and life shall come again.

the romantic feel of this lulls me into a false sense of security and then the subject sinks in...this is a great read....beautiful
