The Kiss Poem by Steffi Webster

The Kiss

Rating: 4.5

Trembling tension builds beneath the skin
As the expectation swells for the sin,
Entirely inevitable cannot be thought
But the longing ever growing with
To’ing and fro’ing without ever
Knowing the power of it. Desire
Uncontrolled as mental ecstasy
Of memory combining with fantasy,
Piercing your heart. Sense him nearing,
Yourself fearing the moment of contact
The magma flow. First slow. Then
Faster and stronger can’t wait any
Longer you reach the distance and
Touch the fire. Searing your veins
Murmur his name and find
Your place in the wave of his arm.
Gripped, held, heart swelled
No room for thought, feeling or logic
Just pure instinct surging and urging
You on. Eyes stare right into you
Searching for soul that isn’t there.
You stretch up and reach for him
Longing and yearning and no
Longer caring of anything past this
Heavenly act. Then they meet, two wild
Animals untamed, unashamed and connect.
Part in a gasp, fulfilment at last. The kiss is
Unending and soul is reborn.
A new dawn.
