The Lady Who Sang For Me Poem by PULAK DAS

The Lady Who Sang For Me

Rating: 5.0

How fair is she!
As many maidens be;
Her loveliness was unknown to me
Until she smiled on me.

O then I saw the smooth brow will stay, the lovely eyes
The ruddy lip & hair of youthful dyes.

She walks in beauty, like the night
And all thats best of dark & bright.

By heaven! I think my love as rare
In the point of view of fair.

The love light in her eye
To mine they ever reply.

Our dates are brief & they take me higher
And rather make me mourn to fulfill my desire.

A smile or kiss, as she will use the art
Shall have the cunning skill to break a heart

And yet, till the Judgment Day of my life arise
I live in this & dwell in my lovers eyes.

This I do vow & this shall ever be
I will be true despite she deceives me.

Then I sigh & think.
The flower that smiles today
Tomorrow dies;
All that we wish to stay
Tempts & then flies.
