The Lazarus Heart Poem by chandra prakash verma

The Lazarus Heart

Rating: 4.5

The flame, yes, that's what t'is.
I've let it breath, I've let it hiss.
I've cultivated this snake, asunder.
Denied it mysteries, fed it hunger.

'Lest you should burn', said she
The parched flame churned, and fled free.
The borrowed bullet from this lazarus heart.
The sorrow, this sonnet, this venomous asphalt.

Do you remember the white rose from my dream.
It went red, as the nightmare began and i screamed.
I couldn't see the sword bearing hands then.
The flame whom i tamed, burned the haze when,

Clear as storm's eye, i saw everything fine.
With devil in my eyes..those hands were mine.
