The Leaf Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

The Leaf

The leaf
It will hear
The moaning of storm
The moaning of winds
The night-dews
The mornings
The blessing of things
Half sleepy
Half wakened:

Ah! night
For the leaf
It saw
The satyr
The nymph
The leaping lights
That come and go
With the magic of
Dance
Of the nymphs.

Aid me
Minerva!
When my mind
Blanks
When my verse
Grow parched
Send in
Signals and magic
The sunset
The dusk
The night
And the dawn
The satyr
The nymph
The leaping lights
That come and go
With the magic of
Dance
Of the nymphs.
