The Leaves Of Autumn Poem by Daniel Miltz

The Leaves Of Autumn

I sit beneath window gawking
To sight of leaves, twisting, falling
Dumpy, crispy, and on the grass
Gather'g together and a·mass

I hear the sound of autumn breeze
Sudden countless, number of leaves
In comely yard, I long to know
Brown, green, orange, red afterglow

O' beautiful ray of sunshine
Peeking through, peephole of its treeline
As cracking wind, cuts through silence
Leaves drift in speedy compliance

Through all the day, a gentle glow
Tween a windy, powerful flow
Winsome leaves, outside my window
And, one by one, they all let go

Their branches in wind, overlap
I can't see, but hear the stems snap
Over and over the meadow lawn
They drop with a silent slap and be·gone

Soggy and wet, disappearing before me
Naked branches in a cold wind I see
Falling to the earth, one by one
The amazing swirl of the last leaf hung
