As the old man sat upright,
he looked out into the ocean,
gazing at the sea.
'Red sky in the morning' he said
Before looking back at me
with an ominous tone towards the morning eve.
I could do nothing for him.
I could only stand tall..
Later in that day the waves gnashed and moaned
as roaring thunder echoed over it all.
The old man sent out a warning.
I could only stand tall.
With the flip of a switch,
A flicker, and a twitch..
I was a beacon through it all.
I was proud,
I was loud,
I didn't know how,
But I shined like a star in the sky.
So high..
I was so high up that nothing could phase me.
I felt like I could face up against the roar of the sea.
I used to feel like I was nothing until
my light shined.
Yes, my light shined.
It shined so bright and so free
through the darkened sky that I
Had forgot what it felt like to feel nothing.
Then the sunlight pierced the clouds
and now
I am wondering 'What now? '
I overheard the old man talking over the radio.
I saved so many lives that day..
Since that day
My torment flew away
Yes my emotions of being nothing but brick
Flew with the winds and clouds on that day.
To this day, I still have forgotten
The feeling of what it was to feel nothing.
So many poets around, only few write with this distinction. Good write.
