The Living Dead Poem by Sandy Rondo

The Living Dead

I believe in the living dead.
Not the zombies returning from their graves.
but the people who fake a laugh,
fake a smile.
can't feel emotions
can't feel horror or love.
Never truly sees or hears,
The faces and words of their truly loved ones

I believe,
That the body is made of two parts,
The spiritual soul,
And the physical heart.
When pressure is pushed on them their spirit can break.
When All their love and happiness is taken away
Even for a brief moment,
Their soul will fade away.
Forever they will not feel
Their emotions forcefully thrown away.
Their bodies set to living the life
That was taken away.
It is not them
And they will not live
In this horrible world
where we destroy it all.

For all the people who blame the living dead,
Saying it's their own fault
That they walk throw life a shadow so deep.
I ask you this question,
Do you really choose to die?
No matter the shape or form
A human needs both,
a spirit and heart
to truly be born.
When one is killed the other will thrive.
But the true human will be buried forever
under the reckless ruins of their lives.

It is not their choice to be taken away,
Just remember on this fateful day,
A loved one can be taken
Yet still physically be here,
And even the ones that they held dear
Will look past the fake mask and the fake smile
And think that they are forever real.
