The Local Love Poet Laureate Poem by Francis Duggan

The Local Love Poet Laureate

He is known as the Local love poet laureate he has penned thousands of poems to his wife
But perhaps one might do him a favour to remind him that love is only one aspect of life
A poet should write on many subjects so much in life on which to write
Such as the fauna and flora of Nature the wind and the rain and sunlight.

He also could write on the hardships that some people are forced to endure
The poor people of the poor suburbs who will never be financially secure
Suppose such things do not interest him we all see life quite differently
But then if we all were like minded how boring indeed we would be.

His wife feels that he is a great poet as one of him would expect her to say
As to her he is so devoted he pens her two love poems a day
Though she has lost some of her beauty she is fifty seven years old
But beauty is in the eye of the beholder and in her great beauty he does behold.

He is the Local love poet laureate of his talents his wife the main beneficary
In his love poems he leaves her in no doubt that there is none as lovely as she
The songbirds in the wood are singing the gulls calling by the sea shore
But writing of Nature just does not interest him this aspect of life he ignore.
