The Longing Heart Poem by Lilith Van'Nightinveil

The Longing Heart

In the heart, a haunted house does dwell,
Its halls echo with whispers of the past,
Longing to be cherished, loved so well,
But feared by those who glimpse its shadows cast.

Each room within holds secrets and desires,
Yearning for a touch to banish fear,
Yet visitors recoil from flickering fires,
And turn away, unable to draw near.

For who will brave the darkness of its rooms,
And see beyond the specters that reside?
To find the beauty hidden in its gloom,
And let the haunted heart no longer hide.

But days pass by with no one daring near,
The haunted heart grows weary, cold, and still,
No hand reaches out to calm its trembling fear,
No love descends the stairways of its will.

Oh, if only one would venture deep inside,
To break the curse and set its spirit free,
To see the longing heart, no longer hide,
And find the home it's yearned so long to be.

Yet as the shadows lengthen in the night,
The haunted heart resigns to silent plight.
