The Loss Of You Poem by Valerie Daley

The Loss Of You

The loss of you......

I ‘ll love you as long as there are stars in the sky
And when you're gone I know I’ll cry
It’s like the past which is a story we tell ourselves
About a feeling we have had or wish we had
I can’t imagine that you will be gone some day
Leave me to find my own way

Don’t want to lie to you
Want to be truthful
But what can I do
If you’re always on the other side of the tracks
Making me look back
While I’m here in the unreal world
Searching for the truth

The loss of you is sometimes numb
Like the brutal cold on my face
I feel like I am invisible sometimes
I feel like there is no trace of me
In your heart or head
The words I hear are whispers
Which I have somehow misread.
