The Maggots Poem by Kamala Das

The Maggots

Rating: 3.4

At sunset, on the river ban, Krishna
Loved her for the last time and left...

That night in her husband's arms, Radha felt
So dead that he asked, What is wrong,
Do you mind my kisses, love? And she said,
No, not at all, but thought, What is
It to the corpse if the maggots nip?

While meeting Radha, the gopi (cowgirl) for the last time on the river bank, she receives the parting kiss from her lover boy whose imprints she keeps dreaming about and recreating hereunder this poem.

What is it in The Maggots? Is it about Radha or Kamala? What the story is about? What does Kamala want it?

Wow! ! ! She's good. I like the type of women she writes about, her metaphors, imagery and simple language 😍
