The Many Frustrations Caused By Modern Technology Poem by DM W

The Many Frustrations Caused By Modern Technology

I am no Luddite,
I just expect much better
outcomes, from our
' heralded ' technology.
My printer is like
a brontosaurus. It is
clearly not fit for
purpose. To hell with it and
all its infinite
similar, crude variants!
These links are broken:
typical internet crap.
Sometimes, it seems things
were quicker decades ago.
Planned obsolescence
is so morally bankrupt
to me, when I think
of craftsmen from former times,
who attempted to
do the very best they could
from iron and wood.
O my goodness, how times have changed!
Cars of tomorrow
are soon thrown upon scrapheaps.
Now it's all about
a quick buck. Screw quality.
Flood the market with
lots of third- rate quantity.
In Cuba, they have
to make do with old items,
which they constantly
renew. Necessity seems
to be the mother
of invention in that case.
But we in the West
don't wrestle with our angels,
and so we're passive
receivers of the latest
'spellbinding' gadgets,
that promise the earth, and yet
deliver little.
O they do not impress me!
