The Merging! Poem by Robert Edgar Burns

The Merging!

I have wed my heart to you
In every imaginable way.
I belong to you sweet girl,
Any time of any day.

You’re the bride living in my heart.
Won’t you let me be your groom?
And I could have no other love,
For in my heart would be no room.

Since you’ve given your heart to me,
Won’t you share your body too?
Will you make love to this awe struck man,
Who is forever in love with you?

I won’t do anything half way.
Never have and never will.
And I will give my life to you,
If you say you love me still.

We are two hearts merged as one.
What affects you also affects me.
May we travel together the river called Life,
As we sail life toward the sea.
