The Mind Poem by Mahathi Mydavolu

The Mind

This mind is like an ape that jumps from bough
To bough sans caring heart's complaining beats,
And soul's strong plaint to seek the Master's love.
But abets body's dirty feats and bleats.

The heart became a slave to evil mind
As soul remained a silent spectator
Of mind's dictums imprudent and unkind
As body mad is swinging with a roar.

Can't control I this mad mind's frenzy dance
And flow with soul like Ganga's waters pure? !
My thirsty heart is waiting for a chance
To feel the Lord and have a mystic tour.

Must rein the mind and hold them firm and tight
And focus on my burning inner light.
